I have been a fan of Rugby for a number of years now and the Six Nations was where my love began. From around 2000 I followed England in the annual tournament and in to the memorable 2003 world cup. Since that time my knowledge of the game has grown and I watch a lot more rugby now.
This year I thought I would offer my view on who would make my team of the week for each round. You will find these posts after each round of games with my 1 to 23 players for each week. I will be putting the teams together using a number of criteria. These are as follows;
- Statistics – Using the RBS player and team stats for each game I will be comparing performance levels to decide who are the top players in each position.
- Positions – Players will only be considered for the position they start in so if there are two great players at 8 only one can be chosen.
- Subs – Those players that come of the bench will be chosen for substitute positions and not starting roles.
- Bias – I am an England fan. I also have Scottish roots so cheer them on when they aren’t playing England. I have a dislike for Wales. Well, I have a dislike for the hype that surrounds the team which means they can never do any wrong.
- I will use the RBS and BBC’s team of the week to offer a comparison of who has been chosen by the professionals.
