I often get asked questions about creation, usually the question is, do I think the universe was created in seven days?  My usual response is to ask them the question, does it matters?  I don’t ask this to be flippant but to get away from what I find is a superficial, surface question to some of the much more important and profound questions.

Do I believe God created? yes.

Do I believe we all bear the image of the creator God? yes

Part of the issue with asking the seven day question is that it takes one chapter from the entirety of the Bible and uses it as the set text for all of creation.  Genesis 1 is an amazing chapter full of deep truth about who God is and what he is doing.  The problem is it is actually one of many creation stories within the Bible and to concentrate on this one above all others gives us a skewed view of how God created.

In order to address this imbalance I decided to go on a journey through the Bible looking at all of the texts that speak of God’s creating acts.  This shall hopefully begin to open up the bigger picture and maybe enable us to understand more of God’s truth.
